Remembering Easter 1916 Ireland

Remembering Easter 1916
By: Mary Fitzpatrick
This Poem, written in 2016, attempts to capture the mood throughout Ireland
one hundred years previously.
The narrative takes us out of the capital and into the Irish countryside.
The sadness surrounding the executions in the aftermath of the Easter 1916 Rising,
was heavily felt right into the villages and fields of rural Ireland.
The impact was felt far beyond Dublin, martial law was imposed and extended across Ireland.
