Winter Solstice in Ireland
To day 21/12/2021, the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere
As the Earth’s axis tilts towards the sun, days here in the North will continue to get longer until Summer Solstice on 21st June.
And the Cycle begins again.
This movement of the Earth causes the seasons, whereas the Earth’s spin movement on its own axis causes day and night.

I remember learning this in primary school here in Ireland, but every once in a while I feel the need to work it out in my head again.
